We just did our Costco run today (5/1/2020). Normally we are there every week, but not anymore. The last time a month ago we waited outside in a long line while spread apart. It took us 2 hours from being in line to leaving the store. Today it only took us 45 minutes with no line to get it. Only a normal line to leave. The inventory was fine. Still a bunch of meat. We stocked up on extra fish which was put in the freezer. We were able to score toilet paper again. Only one package per membership. We saw several people have one of their big packages of toilet paper taken away from them; the same for bleach. I don't know why anyone needs four gallons of bleach since they sell 2-gallon packages. The vast majority of the people were wearing masks; a smaller subset were not. Some older people also weren't wearing masks. There was a family of four in front of us who were not wearing a mask. This Monday, Costco will require everyone to wear a mask. Some people were wearing a mask over their mouth, but not their nose. The snack bar still has no tables. The products offered has trimmed to only soda, pizza, or hot dogs. The registers had to be physically moved to remove a couple of them to allow for social distancing space for the employees. Holes on the floor were filled indicating the registers were originally part of the concrete foundation. A barrier has been installed at the registers to protect the employees. Our membership card was scanned through the barrier. The same card is used to pay for which the reader was only accessible to the customer. Unfortunately, a customer behind us placed his card on a product on the conveyor belt like the old days. I'm sure the employee was very uncomfortable with that circumstance. No dividers for the conveyor belt; only one customer at the register at a time. Social distancing decals are on the ground for each register line. The space from the registers to the pallets of products has been expanded to allow for more social distancing room. It was odd seeing the extra space. No lines starting at the back of the store this time. The lines were normal length. Very hard for social distancing while in the store. There was only so much Costco could do with all the items they have for sale. Before stopping at Costco, I needed to deposit checks from a mapping company I've been doing work for hiking trails. The line of vehicles to use the drive-thru was about twenty deep since the indoor area was closed. Kristi was very annoyed. I told her that there was no one at the drive-thru ATM so park anywhere so that I can walk right by the line of vehicles to make the deposit without waiting at all. A good friend of Kristi's (Aspa) is now on the shit-list for getting together. The lady is very outgoing and needs social interaction. She has been very good for the past month and a half, but that ended last night. She posted pictures on Facebook of her and her family having an outside block party with other families. Lots of hugging and getting close with no masks. Ironically, her teenage daughter had a teenage friend who died of the virus. She later proclaimed that she had a bit too much to drink! Bad judgement on her part! Last night, Kristi went to the local grocery store at 7 pm noticing that most of the people did not wear a mask. Quite pathetic! 5/20/2020 Daddy went shopping to different stores on the same day which is something that hasn't been done for a few months. At Target, mostly everyone had a mask. I even saw an employee without one. Afterwards, Mommy enlightened me that some people may have a health issue in which they can't wear a mask. Others might have a psychological trauma for which wearing a mask revives that traumatic distress. Quite unfortunate for those people. In Lowe's, again mostly everyone was wearing a mask. Star Nursery had the most number of people wearing a mask even in the outdoor portion of the store. 5/22/2020 Another Costco run at 11 am. No lines to get in the store. There was a sign at the front indicating items not in stock. Costco requires everyone to wear a mask. Although, I saw about a dozen or so people walking around without a mask. Some had them under their chin or hanging from an ear. I don't know if an employee approached them at some point or not. There were pallets of bottled water and toilet paper. The volume of people inside the store was like pre-pandemic normal. There was no way to maintain social distancing. The check out line was less than 10 carts deep which not unreasonable. There were spots on the floor to space everyone apart. Only one cart/member was allowed at the register at one time. The plastic barrier between the cashier and member was still in place. I noticed the snack bar was now offering the smoothie along with still offering soft drinks, pizza, and hot dog. An employee at the exit was still checking the receipt. The employee was behind a plastic barrier. Although, I noticed that members were showing the person the receipt at the side of the barrier invalidating social distancing and the use of the barrier. 5/25/2020 Daddy went to Smith's on Skye Canyon noticing that about 50% of the people in the store did not wear a mask. All the employees had a mask. All the aisles had signs on the floor indicating one way to help with social distancing. There was also a "DO NOT ENTER/WRONG WAY" sign at eye level if you entered the aisle the wrong way. The aisle for the proper path had a sign at eye level indicating "One Way. Please maintain distance of 6 ft". From what I saw, everyone was abiding by the directional signs.
