Day 1: Our hero swam a valiant 500 yard freestyle tonight and achieved the following: - a time of 5:41.98 - a drop of over 9 seconds from his personal best - 4th place for 11-12 year old boys IN THE STATE!!! - a qualifying time for the spring, short course Southern California Junior Olympics.
Day 2: Hands down, the 2019 Nevada State Championships was Kenny's best swim meet ever. He made the finals (top 20) in every event he swam, and he secured new best times in all 7 events. The days were long (up to 14 hours) and the conditions harsh (extreme chemical levels in the water), but he gave it his all in all 14 swims. Super proud of him!!
200 freestyle prelim he swam a 2:10. Took off 3 sec. Seeded 10, earned 6th!!! and a spot in the finals heat!!
100 back prelim 1:07.76. Dropped 2.83!!! Seeded 11, placed 8th!!! And he got another spring jo cut in that 100 back. Damn!
Day 3: Here we go with day 3 of the State Champs. He's swam exceptionally strong so far -- 3 top- ten individual finishes out of 3 events, 2nd place with his Medley relay teammates, and 3 qualifying times for the spring Junior Olympics.
Today's events are his weakest, so he's aiming to better his personal best times and make top 20.
